Job Descriptions
Equipment Operator
Under the direction of the Public Works Director, the Equipment Operator operates departmental equipment and performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of streets and water, gas, and sewer lines. Employee must possess good communication and excellent mechanical skills. The Equipment Operator is a non-exempt position under FLSA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include: Uncovers buried gas, water and sewer lines so repairs and replacements can be made; Digs graves at cemetery; Grades roads and ditches; Operates sewer machine, trencher, backhoe and other equipment.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS include: Assists with the repair/replacement of gas, water, and sewer lines; Operates dump truck, tractor/bush hog as needed; Operates equipment during snow removal.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) to three (3) years of similar or related experience is required. The employee is expected to have acquired the necessary skills and information to perform the job reasonably well within six (6) months to one (1) year of hiring. EOE
