BLUE-GREEN ALGAE WARNING — RIVERWALK PARK POND

Riverwalk Park Pond is currently under a Warning Advisory for blue-green algae.

Testing conducted on Monday, August 3, found 436,391 cells per milliliter and less than 0.3 micrograms per liter of microcystin toxin. The algae count exceeds the state’s Warning threshold.

Warning signs have been posted at public access areas. Until further notice:

Avoid all contact with the pond water.
Do not swim or wade in the pond.
Keep pets and livestock away from the water.
Do not allow people or animals to drink the water or eat dried algae.
If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Clean any fish with potable water, discard the guts, and eat only the fillet.

The pond is tentatively scheduled for additional sampling on Monday, August 24. We will share updates as they become available.
